A new collaboration event is underway in PUBG Battlegrounds. And as with a lot of collaborations, it may not completely make sense, but when you factor in the fact that gamers do really like K-pop, it begins to make some.
The new collaboration, which will last until the battle royale’s next update, brings some aespa flair to the game. During the collab, players will be able to use aespa-specific emotes on a special emote stage found on the starting islands to trigger music videos (or album images on console). The stage is available in normal matches as well as ranked and casual modes.
Other aespa structures can be found in the game as well. Out in the world, players will find arenas designed to look like concert venues in El Pozo, Pecado, and Tierra Bronca. The gyms on Miramar have been transformed into concert venues as well. As with the stages on the starting islands, players can use the stages in the venues to trigger music videos.
Other content includes aespa-themed rest stops with screens to watch videos on, a turntable, and a “mysterious refrigerator”. I don’t know about the rest of you, but anyone someone describes a fridge as “mysterious,” I avoid it. And if the fridge isn’t weird enough, crop circles have also popped up in Miramar’s wheat fields.
Of course, the collaboration includes goodies that players can add to their collections, including specially crafted costume sets, weapons, and more. A full list of all the items and what’s required to get them can be found on the PUBG site.
