Back in 2023, thanks to The Game Awards, we knew that SEGA was looking to bring back a few key franchises from their past. In the trailer we saw specific mention of Streets of Rage, Jet Set Radio, Shinobi, Golden Axe, and the potential return of Crazy Taxi.
Honestly, the trailer was a high mark of that show for me. I love some of those titles. I've including that trailer below for you to refresh your memory.
Thanks to a new video on SEGA's YouTube channel, we know a little more about the future of Crazy Taxi. While the upcoming title is getting substantial resources from SEGA, the video shows that the team still needs more people and they are actively hiring.
Of particular note in the the video, though, is the game shifting to multiplayer. Look, we're a little at the mercy of auto translate on this one, so while it does appear it will be "massively multiplayer", we don't know exactly how "massive" that means right now. We do get to see the great looking environments and iconic yellow cab racing through what the team describes as a "theme park" open world.
There's even footage of what looks like a player-controlled police car pursuing a taxi. That by itself opens up some potential play types I think could be interesting.
Check out the video and get ready to earn some cash dropping off those passengers.
