We are less than 30 days away from Final Fantasy XIV: Dawntrail Early Access and about two weeks away from the last Live Letter before the expansion drops. Of course, it’s time for the MMORPG’s development team to drop the Dawntrail Special Site so players can all go to one place to look at pictures and videos, get the details shared during the Live Letter and, of course, buy the game. As you’d expect the site will likely be updated after the next Live Letter on June 14 to include everything revealed there.
One thing of note, the site also includes a link to the Dawntrail benchmark. As you might remember, the devs were reworking the benchmark to fix some issues, and an estimated date of May 23 was given for it to be ready. That said, no announcement has been made that it is, so the benchmark linked to on the site could be the old one.
On a different note, some of you may be aware of the Visa debit card issue. If you’re not, the issue is that when Square Enix changed their payment processor, Mogstation quit accepting some people’s cards as payment options – giving the error “Card not available”. Specifically, it’s doing this with Visa debit cards. Other brands are fine, as are Visa credit cards. The problem has existed for about a month now.
Today, after looking into it, Square Enix announced that they will be “implementing adjustments which will once again enable Visa Debit as a payment option”. Note that they’re making this announcement by region or country. So far we’ve seen the one linked to here – for North America, but there was also a similar announcement for France. If you’re affected by this and not in North America or France, there may be an announcement specific to your region that will be posted later.
There is a downside though. This fix is “currently targeted for release in July 2024”. Yes, that’s after Dawntrail launches. If you’ve already bought the expansion, plan to play, and don’t have another payment option, you may have to buy Crysta or a 60-day time card.
