Wuthering Waves’ next update, Version 3.3 “Reverbs From the End of Galaxies”, is two weeks away. This morning, the dev team hosted the version’s Special Program, detailing what players can expect in what is also the free-to-play open-world game’s 2nd Anniversary update.
The update continues the Lahai-Roi storyline, picking up where we left off after dealing with the issues in the Dark Side and the Fractsidus’ machinations. Of course, we know they and their Overseer aren’t done yet, and (the players, at least) know that somehow those plans involve Startorch student Denia, who seems to have some sort of ties to the Threnodian, Aleph-1. We also know that Lahai-Roi has a guardian in the Wish-Granting Miko, Hiyuki, who bears a fragment of a Sentinel’s power. Denia and Hiyuki are also the new playable Resonators arriving in this update.
Hiyuki is the only member of the Spacetrek Collective’s Special Response Force and is a sword-wielding Glacio Resonator. She arrives with her five-star sword, “Frostburn”. Denia, the Startorch Student being controlled by the Fractsidus, is a Fusion Resonator armed with a rectifier. Her personal five-star rectifier is an unusual teddy bear known as “Forged Dwarf Star”. (Yeah, she’s probably the Threnodian’s Resonator.) Denia is also a two-form character, meaning players will be able to shift between her forms in combat.
Hiyuki will be available in the first Convene for this Version, along with reruns of Mornye and Iuno. In the second Convene, players will be able to roll on Denia, Chisa, and Phrolova.
Once again, the Version will be broken up into two segments. The first, dropping on April 30, includes Main Quest III Segue “Wishes in the Bell” and Main Quest Chapter III Act V “Starlights from Yesterdays”. The first revolves around the confrontation between Hiyuki and the Fractsidus. In the second, Rover will take control of the Exostrider in order to go through the Strider Gate. After completing Act V, players will receive the Lahai-Roi Frequency Cassette Recorder as a skin for their terminals.
The second half of the update, Main Quest Chapter III Segue “Beneath a Melting Night Sky” drops on May 21. It focuses on Denia and her involvement with the Fractsidus.
The version update introduces a new area to the game named “Dimmr Plains. This area is under Bjartr Woods and is connected via the Solistrees. It’s filled with Threnodian power and frequent void storms. It’s also where players will find the Strider Gate. Similar to rebuilding the roads of Lahai-Roi, players will have a restoration project to complete here. This one requires them to fix the Dimmr Plains environment. Of course, there will be rewards, including a new bike livery and astrites.
Speaking of the bike livery, Kuro announced a collaboration event titled “Crossworld Synch,” which will allow players to earn about eight new themed liveries for their bikes. This includes collaborations with Kaiju No.8, Angry Birds, Resident Evil (for their 30th Anniversary), Pragmata, Riders Republic, and Kaikyu. The event will be broken into two phases.
In other bike news, we’re getting wings. Players will now be able to fly. Although it seems like there will still be stamina-type restrictions on it, our bike is getting increasingly more mobile. This also means we’ll have new challenges we can take on to earn even more rewards.
Finally, this update is also the 2nd Anniversary update. That means the devs announced events and rewards to celebrate. The Cubes are back with “Cubie Derby: Championship”. A new arcade game event, “Star Bouncing,” casts Resonators in the role of kinda violent pinballs in a pinball machine. Lollo Logistics has more errands for us to run with new tasks every week.
Players can also expect to receive 10 Radiant Tides and 10 Crystal Solvents via the “Gifts of Grand Celebration” event page following the update. On the actual anniversary day, May 23, 10 more Radiant Tides and a Second Anniversary avatar will be available via the same event page.
There’s also the 2nd Coming of Solaris: Collab season, which rewards players for participating in the other anniversary events with anniversary coins needed to unlock rewards. These include 10 Forging Tides, 10 Lustrous Tides, and the 2nd Anniversary Sigil. Players can also earn an anniversary bike Livery and an outfit accessory for Aemeath. A full rundown of all the goodies can be found in the Special Program stream.
Oh, yes, and before I forget, reward codes are now available. Use them before Sunday. They are: FACEALEPH1, 2NDANNIVERSARY, and EVERSHINE.
