Ashes of the Singularity: Escalation is a strategy and simulation game published by Stardock Entertainment and developed by Oxide Games. The title was released on November 10, 2016, and supports single-player, multiplayer, and co-op modes. Players can choose to lead the Post-Human Coalition or fight against the Substrate faction in battles across the galaxy. The game utilizes a native 64-bit RTS engine called Nitrous to handle large-scale maps with significant detail. The expansion adds the Co-Op Map Pack and the Juggernaut DLCs to the base experience. The Co-Op Map Pack introduces nine new maps designed specifically for cooperative play where spawn points keep teammates close together. Resource definitions are clearly separated for each player to prevent conflicts over spawn locations or expansion opportunities. This setup ensures that the maps remain fair and balanced for everyone involved in the battle. The Juggernaut DLC provides a new warship for both the Post-Human Coalition and the Substrate factions. The PHC Agamemnon is designed to annihilate swarms of enemy units and hold territory against waves of attackers using rapid-firing laser batteries and tempest missile salvos. It features advanced triple-barrel autocannons for improved defense against air units but lacks armor piercing capabilities effective against other juggernauts or dreadnought destroyers. The Substrate Eye of Darkness can destabilize targets at the molecular level with full armor-piercing and high area-of-effect attacks suitable for ground targets. This Substrate warship is the only Juggernaut that lacks anti-air weaponry, making it vulnerable to bombers if the accompanying army is not planned carefully. The main story length is approximately 16 hours, while the main story plus extras extends playtime to about 23 hours. Completing all aspects of the game requires roughly 35 hours of gameplay.
