About
Block'hood is an indie strategy and simulation title published by Devolver Digital and developed by Plethora-Project LLC. Released on May 10, 2017, this managerial game allows players to act as city planners in a single-player experience. The core mechanic involves arranging over 90 building blocks to construct distinct neighborhoods and observe the resulting ecosystems. Players must manage resources carefully because each block has specific inputs and outputs that define its function within the network. Success depends on maintaining a balanced production system where every unit receives the necessary inputs to prevent decay. If a block lacks required resources, it will eventually be abandoned or destroyed, which can negatively impact surrounding units. This risk means that careless planning seeking an ideal neighborhood could lead to a dystopian outcome rather than a prosperous one. Unlocking new blocks and configurations requires gathering additional resources to support more complex designs. The game offers Sandbox Mode for free creation alongside Challenge Mode for structured play. Additional modes designed for education and research are also available for use in classroom settings. The main story takes approximately five hours to complete, while the full experience including extras extends to eight hours. Completing all aspects of the neighborhood design requires about thirteen hours of gameplay.
