McPixel 3 is an indie comedy adventure game published by Devolver Digital and developed by Sos Sosowski, released on November 13, 2022. The single-player experience takes place in the city of McBurg, where players explore various paths to find different adventures. Some routes are blocked and require spending coins to move forward and access new levels within the game world. As you play, the city becomes populated with characters and items from the levels you have already visited. Players can also wear costumes found while exploring the environment. The gameplay involves solving unbelievable situations as a wanna-be hero who often gets mixed up in crazy scenarios. One moment you might be stuck in a speeding train heading toward a cliff, and the next you could be inside a falling plane. Other challenges include winning an impossible-to-win soccer match or acting as a dinosaur trying to hide from a meteorite. The game offers 100 levels of fast-paced action alongside over 20 minigames that span genres like racing, shooting, fighting, sports, platforming, and FPS. Occasionally, the standard adventure style is interrupted by these genre-bending mini-games scattered around McBurg. Progression in the game rewards players with coins for finding all solutions to a level, which can be used to unlock new content. The city of McBurg features a Devolver vault on a grassy hill containing gold that players might visit if they need more coins. During adventures, players may encounter Steve, who appears in unexpected places and transports them to his own levels. Unlike McPixel, Steve does not specialize in saving the day but instead engages in average activities like fishing, cooking, driving, or summoning demons. The game runs on a software-rendered engine written from scratch specifically for this title. This engine ensures the game runs smoothly even on older computers and saves battery life by being environmentally friendly. The experience includes nearly 1000 hilarious gags to discover and over 1500 interactive items throughout the world. The main story takes approximately 5 hours to complete, while the main story plus extras extends to about 6 hours. A completionist playthrough can take around 8 hours depending on how many solutions are found. The demo version of McPixel 3 is available for players to try before purchasing the full game.
