First Feudal is an indie strategy and simulation game published by Harpoon Games and Gamera Game that was released on April 7, 2021. Players begin with a small group of peasants and limited resources to build a settlement into a medieval castle. The experience combines action, building, RPG, survival, and simulation elements within a single-player or multiplayer framework. You can manage the population by assigning one of ten professions to each peasant so they handle tasks automatically. Alternatively, you may choose to directly command individual units or groups during combat if basic education proves insufficient for tactical needs. Infrastructure development starts with processing stone and lumber before advancing technology to unlock manufacturing, trade, lighting, comfort, equipment, and defense options. Your character and peasants gain skills while performing useful work throughout the game. To attract new settlers, you must ensure inhabitants live in cozy houses and eat good food. For particularly lazy workers, you can use a whip alongside incentives to maintain productivity. The game supports co-op play allowing up to six players to build their village together and fight shoulder to shoulder with friends. Survival requires more than just hunting and gathering since hunger persists until you grow various crops and raise animals in a developed settlement. You must prepare for harsh medieval winters by building campfires and houses while stocking up on non-perishable food provisions. Greedy bandits, wolves, and bears will regularly attack your settlement requiring you to rally militia troops or let your people defend themselves. To reduce casualties during these battles, you can hide behind powerful walls or lure enemies into meticulously placed traps. Merchants visit your village regularly to offer goods and purchase items you produce over time. With sufficient development, you will be able to send trade caravans to other locations for commerce. Random events frequently occur requiring important decisions such as choosing between weapons or food, gold or goods for your peasants, or selecting one egg today versus a hen tomorrow.
