About
Laysara: Summit Kingdom is an indie city builder developed by Quite OK Games and published by Future Friends Games and Quite OK Games. The game was released on April 10, 2024, and offers a single-player experience where players rebuild the Kingdom of Laysara for people displaced from the lowlands. You can choose between a campaign mode or a sandbox playthrough to establish multiple towns across unique mountains. Each settlement exists in symbiosis with the others, allowing you to build a trading network that you adjust by revisiting developed areas. Every mountain presents different challenges regarding shape, vegetation zones, resource availability, and weather conditions. Some locations offer ample space for farming in green lowlands, while others require breeding animals or extracting minerals near peak glaciers. If a specific resource is scarce, you can establish a trading route with another town to obtain it. The environment also features ever-present avalanches that cannot be stopped but must be managed through precautions like afforestation or building artificial barriers. You may trigger an avalanche early to make it manageable, or risk having your city buried and devastated if you fail to prepare. Transporting goods requires creating a vast network of roads, bridges, and shafts because destinations often lie behind cliffs, ridges, canyons, and rivers. As the town's population grows, demand for resources increases, necessitating optimization of the transportation system through paved roads or advanced lifting constructions. You can aid your carriers by using glamorous yaks to ensure reliable delivery chains across difficult terrain. Ultimately, the game focuses on economy, resource management, and surviving an inhospitable environment without any combat or military aspects.
