About

Forestrike is an action indie combat title published by Devolver Digital and developed by Skeleton Crew Studio and Thomas Olsson. The game was released on November 17, 2025, and features a single-player experience centered around martial arts themes. Players control a character named Yu who travels across the country to free the Emperor from an evil Admiral's influence. Throughout this journey, Yu faces overwhelming odds against the Admiral's vicious followers and must rely on more than just physical strength. A core mechanic called Foresight allows players to rehearse encounters within the fortress of their mind before facing them in reality. While mastering a fight in rehearsal does not guarantee victory, it provides Yu with a fighting chance during actual combat. Every move carries significant weight because death resets the journey and forces the player to begin again. This roguelite structure ensures that each run and every encounter is unique due to randomly generated world maps. Progression involves navigating these random maps using Inns for rest and consulting wise Masters encountered along the way. As Yu travels further, he gains strength by learning new techniques from five eccentric Masters that offer permanent upgrades. Players can combine and experiment with these techniques to achieve the ultimate goal of winning without relying on Foresight. Adaptation and improvisation are crucial for advancing through the game's procedurally generated content. Combat requires poise and efficiency when dispatching mobs of brutal enemies while often being outnumbered. Players can upgrade and customize their movesets using techniques from chosen Masters to outwit opponents in fierce, puzzle-like battles. The world is presented as a visually striking fantasy setting inhabited by unique characters and vicious enemies. Intricate pixel art landscapes serve as an atmospheric backdrop for the handcrafted animation and character designs.
