About
Gord is a single-player strategy and simulation game published by Team17 and developed by Covenant.dev, released on August 17, 2023. Players lead the Tribe of the Dawn through an adventure set in a grim fantasy world inspired by Slavic folklore. The experience involves managing survival needs while expanding a settlement into a formidable fortress against various threats. Expansion requires erecting palisades and developing structures, but progress is constantly challenged by enemy tribes, gruesome monsters, and mysterious powers found in the surrounding woods. Quests shape the personalities of your people, impact their wellbeing, and ultimately decide the fate of the community. You must ensure the survival of your populace while venturing beyond settlement walls to prevent calamity or address personal matters for subjects. The game offers versatile quests that guide your journey through main objectives, side quests, and random encounters in the wilderness. These missions allow you to hunt legendary creatures, uncover secrets of the Ancients, or vanquish a scourge. You can adjust scenario options including level size, raid intensity, environment, enemy types, starting resources, weather severity, and specific horrors. A healthy populace is essential for survival, as illness, hunger, and the death of kin affect each subject's Sanity levels. If a subject's sanity reaches a critical point, they may suffer a breakdown or flee your rule. You can please the Gods with prayers to access spellcasting abilities that vary from offensive to defensive incantations. These spells help tip the battlefield in your favor by concealing areas, controlling beasts, or unleashing unholy rage against opponents. The Chronicle provides history blending real-world Slavic mythology with dark fantasy elements within the Gord universe. Torn pages scattered throughout the landscapes offer an additional discovery challenge for dedicated players. Collecting these pages provides insight into the origins of the Gods, ancient factions, and the mystical Whisperers. The main story length is approximately 18 hours.Read moreShow less

Beyond the shock value of its demonic horrors, this survivalist city-builder has little to recommend it.

Gord is, in its most outstanding moments, a mediocre colony sim/RTS/RPG hybrid. The rest is just boring.
