Players assume the roles of these five distinct characters, each situated within a unique environment deep inside the center of the earth. The group includes Gorrister, a suicidal loner; Benny, a mutilated brute; Ellen, who suffers from hysteria and phobias; Nimdok, a secretive sadist; and Ted, a cynical paranoid. Their experience involves challenging dilemmas that address powerfully charged emotional issues alongside provocative psychological and adult-oriented themes. The game features full digitized speech covering over forty different characters and utilizes state of the art animation throughout. The main story takes approximately six hours to complete, while including extras extends the playtime to eight hours. A completionist approach to the content also requires about eight hours of gameplay. Harlan Ellison provides the voice for the insane master computer known as AM in this experience.
