The narrative follows Ellery as she searches for her missing partner and uncovers extraterrestrial life within an underwater alien landscape. You interpret signals, set headings, and map the ocean through experimentation and intuition using an elegant interface that works with touch or mouse controls. Unlock upgrades and make discoveries to open new paths, revealing strange creatures and environments as you dive deeper. Read Ellery's notes and sketches to help classify an entirely new ecosystem while cataloging various species through observation and sampling. Choose whether to study creatures, investigate secrets, or explore new areas before returning to your base to analyze samples in the lab. Chat with Ellery or read her journals to understand more about this world and the person whose suit you inhabit. Through limited communication, you learn about the character you are guiding toward a terrible truth that brings you closer together. The main story takes approximately five hours to complete, while adding extras extends playtime to seven hours. A completionist run of the game requires about eight hours to finish all content.
