The game features a single-player mode. In Kerbal Space Program, players take control of the space program for a fictional alien race called the Kerbals. Players can assemble spacecraft using various parts. These spacecraft operate based on realistic aerodynamic and orbital physics. Players can launch their Kerbal crew into orbit and beyond, aiming to keep them alive while exploring moons and planets within the Kerbol solar system. The game allows players to construct bases and space stations to expand their expeditions. Kerbal Space Program offers three distinct gameplay modes: Science Mode, Career Mode, and Sandbox Mode. In Science Mode, players conduct space experiments to unlock new technology and advance the knowledge of the Kerbals. Career Mode tasks players with overseeing every aspect of the space program, including construction, strategy, funding, and upgrades. Sandbox Mode provides players with the freedom to build any spacecraft they can imagine. The main story in Kerbal Space Program can be completed in approximately 115 hours.
