Players guide the hero Jack and a band of powerful Blood Maidens through a living dungeon inhabited by Nightmares. These near-unstoppable creatures pursue heroes through fiendishly constructed labyrinths within the Jail that sank a city deep underground years ago. The narrative follows Jack, a boy suffering in a world where dreams and humanity were lost before a girl from the Blood Team appeared with giant scissors. This encounter marks the beginning of their fate as they face countless perils to regain what was lost and escape the prison 666 metres beneath the surface. The setting holds power over eerie creatures called Marchens, which unceasingly chase players through the dungeon levels. Jack must use the Blood Maidens' unique powers and enemy blood to exploit weaknesses while controlling their violent heroics with his own blood and the Mary Gun. Combat involves fighting legions of Marchens by filling a blood meter to transform and deal more damage in Massacre mode. Alternatively, players can reduce the meter to heal the party and receive stat boosts during the dungeoneering challenge. Special abilities allow users to lay traps and gain an advantage before battles commence against challenging Nightmares. Some encounters feature giant Nightmares so large they span multiple floors of the Jail. Players can customize their characters with over 20 jobs, each possessing its own unique skillset and stats. The main story takes approximately 41 hours to complete, while including extras extends playtime to around 53 hours. A completionist run requires about 64 hours to finish all content available in the game. Exploring the twists and turns of the Jail allows players to satisfy its bloody desires to earn helpful Jail Bonuses.
