About
Crying Suns is a single-player tactical rogue-lite developed by Alt Shift and published by Humble Games. The game was released on September 18, 2019 for PC and Mac platforms. Players assume the role of a space fleet commander exploring a procedurally-generated universe within an indie sci-fi setting. This simulation experience combines strategy elements with RPG mechanics to create a dark and disturbing atmosphere. The narrative follows the journey of a clone of Admiral Ellys Idaho after the Galactic Empire shatters following the shutdown of the OMNI machines. Humanity faces extinction until the player awakens on Gehenna, a planet housing a top-secret facility that serves as the last chance for survival. The Guardian Kaliban, the final functional OMNI, guides the character in reactivating these god-like machines to save humankind. Each successful run uncovers more truth about the fallen empire and the protagonist's identity within this deep storyline structured in six chapters. Combat involves tactical fights between battleships and their squadron fleets across violent clusters where one wrong move could end a run. The game offers over 300 possible story events and includes more than three hundred distinct outcomes for players to encounter. A Last Orders update provides free content including two new playable battleships with unique playstyles for each faction. This extension also adds two new character factions, twelve battlefield items, four special officers, and thirty new events related to the new groups. The main story requires approximately fifteen hours to complete, while including extras extends playtime to twenty-two hours. Achieving full completion takes around forty-five hours depending on how many optional elements are explored. New achievements are available to unlock as players discover the additional content introduced in the final free extension. The experience is designed for those who enjoy hard rogue-lite challenges where preparation and strategy are essential for survival.

It's too repetitive and easy, but Crying Suns story and frantic combat are worth experiencing anyway.
