About
Ring of Pain is an indie card game developed by Simon Boxer and Twice Different for Humble Games, released on October 14, 2020. This strategy title supports single-player sessions and includes controller support for gameplay. The experience centers on a roguelike card crawler where encounters approach the player rather than requiring active pursuit. Players navigate randomly generated ring dungeons by observing the environment and planning their routes carefully. Each step around the ring presents a dire decision between pursuing loot or backstabbing a creeping horror. You must choose your gear wisely to survive while discovering the secrets hidden within the Ring of Pain. The dungeon reacts to your actions as you scavenge, fight, and sneak to new encounters. The game allows you to play at a fast or slow pace in this challenging, turn-based roguelike setting. Be careful where you tread because you may find yourself ambushed or worse in a hostile environment. Positioning is key to survival since creatures broadcast their actions and are ready to erupt unexpectedly. You can learn, adapt, or face demise as the outcome of your choices becomes clear. Mimics offer you a choice for a price while you take what you can hold and build your strategy. The main story takes approximately eight hours to complete, with extras extending that time to twenty-one hours. A completionist run requires about fifty-six hours to finish all available content in this strategic card game.

Ring of Pain can be frustrating in its difficulty, but more often than not, it's satisfying and wonderfully creepy.
