About
Dark Devotion is an indie action RPG and adventure title developed by Hibernian Workshop and published by The Arcade Crew and Maple Whispering Limited. Released on April 25, 2019, this single-player game invites players to explore a mysterious fallen temple while testing their Templar faith. No sacrifice is considered too great in praise of your God as you journey into the deepest darkness for answers that challenge your existence. You measure your devotion and bravery by venturing further into the cursed pilgrimage where every encounter tests your fortitude, piety, and conviction. The game spans four unique worlds, each featuring incredibly detailed environments designed to support a quest to discover the Temple's secret. Players will wield dozens of weapons while facing dark enemies and devious bosses whose mission is to destroy their soul and damn them forever. Throughout the experience, you can discover an array of weapons, armors, and relics to enhance your character with specific attributes and statistics. Each item is customizable with mystical runes, requiring you to maximize your strengths and adapt your inventory to the enemy you are facing. Faith serves as your only recourse against the heathen droves within the Temple, allowing you to defeat them to collect resources for unlocking secret paths and special chests. You must use this Faith sparingly because nothing lasts forever in this setting where survival depends on using the right item at the right time. Some healing items or curse dispellers can be looted, while others are scattered throughout the Temple in secret places that require careful management. Completing acts of bravery or skill may result in a blessing from your God, but despair and sickness are also ready to destroy those lacking courage and temperance. Salvation is fleeting, so you must choose your route wisely as every world offers several different paths that are original yet interconnected. There is no turning back once you commit to a path, and completing your quest requires shrewd interpretation of the secrets shrouded within the Temple. It is easy to get lost, though uncovering certain secrets might bring favor or reveal a hidden altar where one's story can be saved if honored appropriately. The main story takes approximately 11 hours to complete, while including extras extends the playtime to about 15 hours. A completionist run requires around 27 hours to fully explore all content available in Dark Devotion.
