About

Thimbleweed Park is an indie adventure and puzzle title developed and published by Terrible Toybox. The game was released on March 29, 2017, and supports single-player gameplay with controller input. Players can explore a town populated by eighty eccentric individuals who have gathered from various backgrounds. The setting includes a haunted hotel, an abandoned circus, and a burnt-out pillow factory among other locations. The narrative follows five unrelated characters who are drawn to this forgotten town despite having nothing in common initially. Their paths intersect as they investigate mysteries such as a dead body found under the bridge and toilets powered by vacuum tubes. Questions surround the true allegiance of Agent Ray regarding her objectives and what she intends to obtain. Junior Agent Reyes holds information about a factory fire from twenty years ago that he has not disclosed. The story also explores whether the ghost named Franklin will be able to communicate with his daughter once more. Ransome, known as the Beeping Clown, is another character whose potential for becoming a decent human being is in question. Delores, an aspiring game developer, faces a choice between abandoning her dreams or remaining loyal to her family. The main story takes approximately eleven hours to complete, while including extras extends playtime to fourteen hours. A completionist run of the game requires about sixteen hours to finish all content.

You certainly get your $20’s worth out of Thimbleweed Park. The voice cast doesn’t elevate the script in the way they always did in the LucasArts “talky” days, but an enjoyable, self-referential story and hundreds of puzzles to solve make it worthy of a place on your shelf next to Maniac Mansion and Monkey Island.

Thimbleweed Park is what would happen if you moved Nightvale into Monkey Island, and gave everyone too much rum.

Thimbleweed Park is a point-and-click adventure full of enticing secrets to uncover, but its adherence to the genre's unremedied issues sometimes brings it down.
