About
Tacoma is an indie first-person adventure developed and published by Fullbright that was released on August 1, 2017. The game takes place aboard a high-tech space station in the year 2088 where the Venturis Corporation seeks to retrieve their AI. Players assume the role of someone sent to investigate what happened to the crew of the Lunar Transfer Station Tacoma after a disaster struck. The narrative focuses on how the crew lived and worked before finding clues that build a story involving trust, fear, and resolve. You can explore every detail of the station while using a digital surveillance system that has captured 3D recordings of pivotal moments. These echoes allow you to rewind, fast-forward, and move through complex scenes to examine events from different angles. The main story takes about three hours to complete, with the total playtime reaching four hours for those who finish all extras. This single-player experience serves as a follow-up to Gone Home and invites you to reconstruct a multi-layered narrative by exploring the physical space of captured scenes.

A smart and thoughtful science fiction mystery featuring a cast of believable, nuanced characters.
EurogamerEdwin Evans-Thirlwell
A short, sweet, slightly dissatisfying translation of Gone Home's cosy environmental storytelling into the realm of speculative fiction.

Tacoma successfully overcomes the challenge of featuring eight characters and making them all interesting in a relatively short game. Using the out-of-sequence AR recordings to learn about the exciting events on Tacoma is a unique way to see every side of a conversation, and it's one I hope to see catch on. I would have appreciated more time and events that'd have given me a reason to explore more of the beautiful station, but the time I did have in this fascinating hypothetical future was great.

Tacoma tells a gripping story about mortality and relationships that makes it a worthwhile experience

7
Tacoma tells a story that is made compelling by a well-written and -acted cast of characters, but it's just short of being truly satisfying.
