About
Teslagrad is an indie action puzzle platformer developed and published by Rain Games that released on December 13, 2013. This single-player title places you in a steampunk-inspired vision of old Europe centered around a non-linear world of beautiful hand-drawn environments. You will explore the decrepit Tesla Tower to discover secrets kept within this long-abandoned structure. The adventure involves a young boy who finds himself embroiled in a conspiracy with a despotic king ruling with an iron fist. Your journey relies on magnetism and other electromagnetic powers to navigate the treacherous tower and beyond. The game features voiceless storytelling that allows you to write your own part in the outstanding adventure. Players can expect a main story length of five hours, while including extras extends playtime to six hours. Completing all aspects of the experience takes seven hours for those seeking a full completionist run. Complex puzzles require players to manipulate the world around them using electricity and ancient Teslamancer technology.

Teslagrad Critic Reviews and Review Scores

Nevertheless, despite its unevenness and occasional cruelty, Teslagrad is a bold and captivating proposition. The unusual and elegant aesthetic is persistently attractive, and the lightness of touch with the storytelling brings the world-building to the fore. Its Nordic development team are fledgling (this is only their second game) and there's fidgety keenness to the game's ideas and creative execution. Teslagrad would have benefited from a more experienced publisher to help round off the sharp edges and better balance the challenge. But in the meantime, this is a rough yet worthwhile jewel.
