About
YIIK: A Postmodern RPG is an indie adventure role-playing game published by Ysbryd Games and developed by Ackk Studios. The title was released on January 16, 2019, and offers a single-player experience set in the late 1990s. This surreal Japanese-style RPG follows college graduate Alex after he witnesses a woman vanish from an elevator without explanation. To find answers, Alex assembles a squad of internet misfits to investigate her disappearance. The journey involves exploring dungeons filled with puzzles, traps, and bizarre enemies like tortoise samurais and living stop signs. Combat is turn-based but relies on twitchy mini-games rather than traditional stats alone. Players can wield unusual weapons such as vinyl records, cameras, and musical instruments during these encounters. The main campaign includes sidequests and runs for approximately 30 hours in total.

Despite stunning art direction, a kicking soundtrack, and some interesting story points, it's not an enjoyable game for the most part, thanks to its clunky combat, tedious grinding, and poor puzzle design.
