About
Sanfu is an indie adventure RPG game. It was released on July 27, 2023 by Gamera Games and developed by Shiying Studio. The game features a single-player experience. The story of Sanfu takes place in 2000 in the city of Shancheng. A mysterious old advertisement featuring a deceased psychic boy named Sanying Tong appears on the local news channel's broadcast. Rumors circulate that Sanying Tong's spirit has taken control of the television signal. The Investigation Bureau is tasked with investigating this strange occurrence. As their investigation progresses, a criminal organization operating in the shadows gradually comes to light. The game presents a simple yet absurd narrative about how a criminal group elevates a young boy to a position of worship. It also explores a complex story filled with individuals who are lost, determined, naive, and those who stand at the forefront of change—a reflection of an era. Players can take on the roles of two characters, navigating different time periods and perspectives, experiencing both fantastical pasts and perilous presents. While they are not the central figures in the story, most characters play significant roles, making it more akin to a period drama with multiple viewpoints. The game's visuals draw inspiration from vintage promotional art, ranging from eerie and macabre to vibrant and colorful. This creates a nostalgic visual journey. The unique color palette and detailed posters evoke a strong sense of nostalgia. A hazy texture adds an air of mystery, while elements like small shop signs, lush vegetation, uneven steps, and scattered buildings construct a fictional yet familiar mystical mountain city. The puzzles are intricately woven into the narrative, enhancing the overall gameplay experience. The dual protagonist system expands the possibilities for solving puzzles, adding another layer of enjoyment to the story.
