About
Serious Sam Classic: The First Encounter is an action indie title published by Devolver Digital and developed by Croteam. Released on August 30, 2019, this game offers both single-player and co-op experiences for up to sixteen players. It functions as a high-adrenaline arcade-action first-person shooter that was recognized as Game of the Year in 2001 by Gamespot. The narrative takes place in a setting where cyberpunk elements merge with fantasy fiction, mixing advanced technology with black magic and psycho-powers. The protagonist travels through ancient Egypt and various diverse planets while confronting countless minions belonging to the Mental faction. Players fight their way through an army of nightmarish warriors that includes charging Sirian Werebulls and screaming Headless Kamikazes. The gameplay culminates in a challenge against the multi-story Ugh-Zan boss within this frantic arcade-style shooter environment. Various environments are explored as Sam makes his way toward the Mental's base to complete the mission objectives. The experience focuses heavily on single-player action alongside the available multiplayer modes for cooperative play.
