About
State of Mind is an indie action adventure sci-fi title published and developed by Daedalic Entertainment. The game was released on August 15, 2018, as a single-player experience set in a futuristic thriller context. Its narrative explores themes of transhumanism while examining separation, disjuncture, and reunification within its world. This setting exists between a dystopian material reality and a utopian virtual future where mind and machine merge. The story takes place in Berlin during the year 2048, depicting a world facing resource shortages, pollution-related illnesses, rising crime, and war. Governments and companies attempt to offer remedies through technological progress, leading to drones and humanoid robots replacing humans in public sectors. Surveillance has become omnipresent as everything becomes interconnected in this environment. Richard Nolan serves as one of the few journalists openly criticizing these developments before an explosion occurs. After waking up in a hospital following the explosion, Richard discovers that his wife and son have vanished without explanation. He realizes that he and his family are no longer just bystanders but central figures in the conflict between rivaling ideas about humanity's salvation. Players can expect to spend approximately 10 hours on the main story or 11 hours including extras. Those aiming for a completionist run will need around 13 hours to finish all available content.
