The narrative follows antiquarian Thomasina Bateman as she documents treasures found within English barrows for her book. An intriguing letter summons her to the small village of Bewlay in the remote countryside, where she travels by train with her assistant a day behind her. Upon arrival, the mysterious man who sent the invitation is missing, and her assistant has not shown up either. A stubborn landowner denies access to the barrow, while locals remain wary of the woman traveling alone and wearing trousers. This rocky start leads into a dark storyline that evolves with interwoven elements from real English folklore. Thomasina begins experiencing strange dreams as she investigates the site. The game features traditional point-and-click adventure puzzles for players to solve. The main story takes approximately seven hours to complete, which is also the length of the full experience including extras. Since the completionist length is listed at seven hours, there are no additional optional paths that extend the playtime beyond the main narrative.
