About

THE LONGING is an indie adventure RPG published by Application Systems Heidelberg and developed by Studio Seufz. Released on March 5, 2020, this single-player title presents an unusual mix of adventure and idle game mechanics. The story follows a lonely Shade who serves as the last servant of a king in an underground kingdom. The king's powers have faded, causing him to fall asleep for 400 days while he regains his might. It is your duty to stay in the earthen palace until he awakens from this long slumber. As soon as you start the game, it inevitably counts down these 400 days even when you stop playing and exit the application. Players can choose their own playing style for this solitary existence beneath the soil. You may simply come back after 400 days to see how the story ends without interacting much at all. Alternatively, you can explore the caves and collect items to make your underground life more comfortable. The Shade will be even more lonely without your presence during this extended period.
