About
Shardlight is an indie role-playing adventure game developed and published by Wadjet Eye Games. The sci-fi title was released on March 8, 2016, and features a single-player experience. It follows a young woman named Amy Wellard who works for the government to enter a vaccine lottery. Her goal is to find a cure for a deadly plague that has devastated her world. The story takes place in a post-apocalyptic setting where bombs fell years ago. Disease, hunger, and death are constant realities for everyone living under the rule of an oligarchy called the Aristocrats. This faceless group controls all resources and holds unchallenged authority over society. The rich receive regular vaccinations in exchange for their unconditional support from the government. Meanwhile, the poor live in fear, superstition, and squalor until they die. Amy believes there is a cure available and decides to search for it herself. She accepts that finding this solution may cost her life. Players will experience a narrative length of approximately seven hours for the main story. Adding extras extends the gameplay time to eight hours in total.

An imaginative, atmospheric setting with great art and quality voice acting, but Shardlight is by no means a great adventure game.
