About
The Roottrees are Dead is an adventure game published by Evil Trout and developed by Robin Ward. It was released on January 15, 2025 as a single-player experience. The setting takes place in 1998 when a private jet belonging to the Roottree Corporation crashed. This accident resulted in the deaths of the Roottree Sisters and their parents. The family combined wealth exceeded one billion dollars before the crash occurred. Because of the eccentricities of their great-great-grandfather Elias, this money must be redistributed among the rest of the family. You play a role in determining who is actually a blood relative to claim the inheritance. Your task involves scouring the early Internet for photos, books, articles, and other evidence. You will make connections and deductions based on the family relationships you uncover during your search. As you fill in spots on the family tree correctly, the remaining names and photos have fewer places to go. Simultaneously, the evidence becomes harder and more obscure to find as the investigation progresses.
