About
Battle Chasers: Nightwar is an RPG developed by Airship Syndicate and published by THQ Nordic GmbH that arrived on October 2, 2017. The game falls into the indie, action, fantasy, and turn-based genres while offering a single-player experience. Its design draws inspiration from classic console titles to create a rich story driven by exploration of the world. Players engage in deep dungeon diving using turn-based combat presented in a classic JRPG format. The system includes an overcharge mana mechanic alongside incredible Battle Bursts for action-oriented encounters. Dungeons are randomly generated and filled with traps, puzzles, secrets, and loot for discovery. The overworld features hidden dungeons, rare bosses, and randomly appearing friends and foes to encounter. Users can build their adventuring party by selecting three heroes from six available options in the classic comic series. Each hero possesses unique dungeon skills necessary to survive various challenges within the game. The main story takes approximately 29 hours to complete for those focusing on the primary narrative. Adding extras extends the playtime to around 43 hours for a more comprehensive experience. A completionist approach requires about 71 hours to finish all available content in this title.

Battle Chasers: Nightwar Critic Reviews and Review Scores

Battle Chasers: Nightwars' combat and activity-dense world scratch the JRPG itch, even if the storytelling and character development leave a fair bit to be desired. Its attractive dungeons and outdoor regions are fun to get lost in, and there are just enough hidden treasures to claim to make exploration rewarding in a more than visual capacity. I'd be very pleased to see more turn-based indie RPGs along the same lines as Nightwar in the future - and the ending heavily suggests this won't be the last we see of this universe in RPG form.

Battle Chasers: Nightwar is a gorgeous, challenging RPG that's light on story but big on tactically satisfying battles.
