About
Beholder 3 is an indie adventure and strategy game developed by Paintbucket Games and published by Alawar Entertainment. Released on March 2, 2022, this single-player simulation offers a managerial experience set in a totalitarian state known as The Greatest Union. In this world, oppressive laws and total surveillance control everything and everyone under the regime. Players assume the role of Frank Schwarz, a husband and father who lost his job at the Ministry after being framed by someone else. To avoid jail time, he made a deal with a high-ranking security officer to work undercover as a landlord. His primary tasks involve breaking into tenants' apartments, searching for contraband, and eliminating targets designated by his boss. While managing an apartment block, you must also spy and scheme against co-workers and superiors within the Ministry to climb back up the ladder. Different political factions are secretly vying for power over the Ministry and the country, allowing you to play them against each other to your advantage. You can choose which side to support wisely as these groups fight for control. Your duties include completing quests from the Ministry to promote the ideology of the totalitarian state and spread propaganda as instructed. You will install surveillance cameras and search both apartments and offices to gather information or remove threats. Maintaining your cover requires doing everyday chores like paying bills, fixing up apartments, and keeping your tenants happy. The main story takes about seven hours to complete, while playing through the main content plus extras extends the experience to ten hours. Those aiming for a completionist run can expect to spend approximately fourteen hours finishing all available content. The game presents choices where you must decide whether to fight for change and truth or uphold the status quo.
