About
Ion Fury is an action indie title developed by Voidpoint, LLC and published by 3D Realms. The game was released on August 15, 2019, as a single-player experience built upon the legendary Build Engine. This engine previously powered classic first-person shooters such as Duke Nukem 3D, Shadow Warrior, and Blood. The narrative follows Shelly "Bombshell" Harrison, who works for the Global Defense Force before facing Dr. Jadus Heskel's cybernetic cult in Neo DC. Her mission involves slaying Heskel while navigating huge, multi-path levels filled with gigantic explosions and numerous secret areas. Players will encounter inhuman foes behind every corner during her crusade to take down Heskel's army. Combat relies on running and gunning rather than regenerating health, requiring players to stop taking cover frequently. Shelly utilizes a wide arsenal of weapons that feature alternate fire modes and different ammo types. Her signature revolver includes a tri-barreled design as part of the available weaponry. The main story takes approximately 10 hours to complete, while including extras extends the playtime to about 13 hours. A completionist approach to the game requires roughly 29 hours to finish all content.

Ion Fury is an authentic throwback to Duke Nukem 3D that certainly hails to the king but can't quite dethrone him.
