Reinforcements such as heavy artillery, airstrikes, and the Metal Slug itself are available when the team is in trouble. Experience gained after each encounter unlocks new weapons or bonus perks to upgrade tactical skills. Defeats provide lessons that help players adapt their strategies for future victories. The game features pixel art graphics and a soundtrack by Tee Lopes that complements the action. Players can experiment with 36 loadouts and combos to outsmart enemies and challenge iconic bosses. Metal Slug Tactics lives up to its stone-cold classic namesake from SNK’s golden era with its painstakingly detailed pixel art, head-bopping soundtrack, and snappy structure. It magnificently translates the run-n-gun series into its first turn-based tactics game, but doesn’t sacrifice substance for cheap nostalgia, either.
