Monster Train is a strategic roguelike deck building game with a twist. It features multi-player and single-player modes. The game was released on May 21, 2020, by Good Shepherd Entertainment and developed by Shiny Shoe.
The game is set on a train to hell where players must use tactical decision making to defend multiple vertical battlegrounds. Players will need to power up their forces by visiting powerful locations that offer various benefits such as upgrading champions, recruiting units, upgrading cards, gaining passive bonuses, or duplicating cards in the deck.
There are five clans to choose from, each with unique gameplay mechanics. Players can select a primary and supporting clan to gain access to all cards from both. During gameplay, players can improve cards by mixing and matching upgrades to discover new paths to victory. The main story takes approximately three hours to complete. The main story plus extras can be finished in 29 hours. A completionist playthrough will take around 101 hours.
