What is XCOM 2?
XCOM 2 is a science fiction video game that combines real-time strategy and turn-based gameplay elements. It was developed by Firaxis Games and published by 2K Games. The game was released on February 4, 2016. XCOM 2 serves as a sequel to the critically acclaimed XCOM: Enemy Unknown, which won the title of "Game of the Year" in 2012.
The story takes place twenty years after Earth surrendered to an alien invasion. The organization XCOM, once humanity's last line of defense, has been destroyed and its remnants scattered. Aliens now rule the planet, constructing gleaming cities and promising a utopian future for humans. However, they secretly plot to eliminate anyone who resists their control.
Players take on the role of the leader of a guerrilla force fighting against the alien occupation. They must assemble a team of soldiers, train them, and lead them into battle against overwhelming odds. XCOM 2 is a single-player experience.

With a focus on variety and replayability, this sequel has an answer to most of my complaints about 2012's excellent XCOM: Enemy Unknown, and aside from some mostly cosmetic bugs, it comes together brilliantly. Thanks to a new spin on the same great tactical combat, plus unpredictable maps and randomized objectives and loot, XCOM 2 is an amazing game I'll easily put hundreds of hours into.
