I have to admit, when I wrote about Blue Protocol: Star Resonance’s plans to refund players for purchases made during the upcoming closed beta test, I thought it really had the potential to overcomplicate things. I understood that the goal was to test the F2P MMORPG’s monetization system, and that, as the plan was to test data, including purchases, before launch, something would need to be done. But other developers have dealt with similar issues in less convoluted ways.
As it turns out, others thought so too. According to a report on MassivelyOP, when Bokura shared more details on the rebate rules, offering additional items for purchases with increasing amounts for bigger spenders, players protested. As a result, the devs have decided to do away with the rebate system. Instead, they will return wiped items to players at launch. That seems like a more logical way to go about it. Of course, the other option would have been to do what other developers have done and provide players with the in-game currency to test the shop.
