Monster killing is a big component of any MMORPG. After all, it’s how a lot of early leveling typically gets done. It’s also typically one of the most grindy ways to go about leveling – although running the same dungeon repeatedly is pretty grindy as well. As common as the feature is, it can always be improved on. That’s what’s happening with Tibia.
Today, CipSoft announced that a complete overhaul of hunting (their name for monster fighting) has been introduced as part of the Winter Update. The update overhauls the free-to-play game’s Hunting Task System, which is now made up of two pillars: Bounty Tasks and Weekly Tasks. Bounty Tasks allow players to choose one of three random creatures to hunt. They are also able to choose the difficulty level of the hunt. As for Weekly Tasks, players can take on up to 18 of those a week and earn rewards at the same time. The idea is for the new system to encourage players to hunt in new areas while earning powerful boosts and (hopefully) a more appealing way to level up.
While the hunts will encourage players to visit new places, the devs aren’t relying on that alone. Two new quests introduced as part of the Winter Update will take players through several areas and introduce new enemies and boss fights. The update also brings an end to the story of nightly orders that’s been ongoing for a few years now with the “Order of the Stag”.
