HoYo Drops Some Deep Lore About Genshin Impact’s Tsarista And Khaenri’ah In Today’s 7.0 Special Program

Earlier today, HoYo shared details about Genshin Impact’s upcoming Version 7.0 update which will take players of the free-to-play action RPG to a place we’ve been hearing about since the day we landed in Mondstadt. For six years we’ve been hearing about Snezhnaya and it’s frosty Archon the Tsarista. But despite having met several Fatui Harbingers and other citizens of the nation, we still know very little about the place and it’s ruler – or what she’s really up to, and why, for that matter.

On August 12, we’ll be getting those answers. But some have already been revealed thanks to today’s live stream. Although, as is often the case, it does leave us with even more questions. For instance, it turns out that the Khaenria’ahns are descended from the Tsarista, which explains some of her reasoning for wanting to move against the Heavenly Principles. It also has some interesting implications for Kayea and Arlecchino.

Whatever the Archon’s plans, it seems the Traveler is going to have a lot to deal with. We already know from previous trailers that upon arriving in Snezhnaya, something seems to be wrong with Paimon. Today’s trailer also indicates we’ll be facing off against Ronova, the Ruler of Death, who may actually have it out for Paimon. And that’s on top of dealing with whatever else is thrown our way.

The new zone will introduce a new way for players to get around – by train – as well as a new shooter mechanic. Players can also expect two new playable characters: the five-star Cryo Sword wielder with a talent for ballet, Odette, and Alyosha, a 4-Star Electro Polearm user. The second one will be a free character for players obtained via the Archon Quest. As for banners, Phase 1 will feature Odette, Alyosha, and Arlecchino. Phase 2 will be reruns of Flins and Ineffa. Players also have a chance to pick up Diona for free by completing event quests.

On an additional note, new characters will be added to the “To Temper Thyself and Journey Far” event. Lyney, Wriothesley, Navia, Xianyun, Chiori, Sigewinne, Clorinde, Emilie, and Yumemizuki Mizuki will all be joining the lineup.
