Impending Doom Brings All Of Teyvat’s Leaders Together In Genshin Impact Version 7.2 Hour of Ruin

Genshin Impact

Things have come to a head really quickly since Genshin Impact players have entered Snezhnaya. In just two versions, we’ve fought the Ruler of Death and indirectly kicked off a global crisis as he activated the Nails of Retribution as a parting(?) gift.

Those nails have been looming over six nations of Teyvat, with the exception of Fontaine since the game started. But only since the end of 7.1 have they felt like a true threat, rather than lingering pieces of eras long-past. And if you thought they were just sitting there glowing, emitting little bursts of energy every so often, you’d be wrong.

According to a Special Program hosted this morning, players will discover in Version 7.2 that the nails have been changing the landscape around them, bringing the “Holy Soil Phenomenon” to each of the six nations. If you don’t remember what that is, we ran into it in Inazuma, specifically Watasumi island. The area effectively suffered a type of blight that made it impossible to grow crops. Only, this time it’s worse because anything that enters the areas around the nails ceases to exist.

To respond to this emergency, the Tsarista has managed to bring the leaders of the different nations together in Snezhnaya. Both the Archons and the mortal leaders of each nation have appeared. Oh, and Nevuilette. Yes, we’re going to have the Hydro Dragon in the same room as the Archons (with one notable exception). But, he’s a sensible dragon so I’m sure he can put his grudges on hold until the current crisis is dealt with.

Since this is a global problem, players won’t strictly be focusing on what’s happening in Sneznaya. They’ll also be traveling all over Teyvat to deal with issues as part of this Version’s various in-game events. Note that while the main story content will remain, the activities of these events are time limited. In these events they’ll be responding to the Holy Soil Phenomenon, rescuing wounded soldiers, relaying messages, and carrying out missions.

At the same time, back in Snezhnaya, there will be another issue to deal with in the main story content. Players will be heading to a new area in the eastern part of the nation. We’ve all seen that big dragon wing sticking out of the ground (or, what we assume is a dragon wing). That’s where we’re going, to an underground mining city known as Novokitezhgrad, where Kresnik Kristall is obtained.

The problem is that Kresnik Kristall is somehow being converted into Blightkristall, a completely unusable and dangerous material. And it seems that someone may actually be controlling it, causing it to grow and even affecting the city. Luckily, it can be fought using different resources such as ice constructs, Mitya’s abilities, and more.

Speaking of useable items, players of the free-to-play action RPG will receive new shotgun with new abilities. They’ll also get the chance to play as Paimon in order to solve puzzles.

Two new Meeting Points are being introduced in 7.2. Players will be helping out Danica and Mitya on missions and will even has cause to work with them both somewhere along the way. New missions from the Tsarista will be available as well. Completing them will unlock the region’s glider.

As for new playable characters, Version 7.2 introduces a new 5-Star, Mitya and a new 4-Star Valeriy. This means that if you’re wanting both, there’s a pretty solid chance you can get them. Both characters are Electro characters who enchance Stellar-Conduct reactions. Mitya uses a Catalyst while Valeriy uses a Sword. The latter should be a solid support character what with the shields and buffs. (Not sure what else we’d expect from someone also known as “Mr. Door.”.)

Both Mitya and Valeriy will be available to roll on in the Phase 1 Event wish, along with Furina. Phase two will have reruns of Zibai and Linnea.

Speaking of Event Wishes, a new Nathan-focused Chronicled wish will be available. Players will be able to choose between Varesa, Chasca, Xilonen, Mualani, and Kinich as well as their related weapons. Players will also have the opportunity to invite a 4-Star character of their choice to their roster. The choices are all the characters we first met in each region. So, get ready to decide between Amber, Xianglin, Thoma, Collei, Lynette, Kachina, Aino, or Alyosha.

As always, the Special Program featured three new redemption codes. The codes: HourofRuin, ExpertMitya, and PhotoTime are all good until October 26. So use them before then.
