We’re getting closer to the global launch of Aion 2. If you need proof, NC hosted the MMORPG’s first global livesteam on Friday, sharing information on what to expect when the game does launch. They shared details about everything from character customization and classes to dungeons and raids.
Some of the information provided, we’ve definitely heard before, such as the fact that Aion 2’s map is 36 times bigger than the one in the original Aion. They specified that’s “just the map”, likely because of the game’s flight mechanic. As stated in the stream, “if you can see it, you can get there”. So, if there’s something overhead, you can fly up to it and see what’s there.
But they also provided more details on things like character customization. According to the stream there are more than 200 customization options, with players being able to be very creative. You’ll have four character slots to work with at launch, so that’s enough room to try out a few things. All gear is customizable, as are wings which players can glamour (although they didn’t use that term) to any other wings they’ve obtained. Wings do have stats so this is important.
The devs also discussed the pet/mount system. We’ve heard a bit about this too. At least the fact that they’re farmed and some function as both pets and mount. At launch there will be more than 200 of them, and they’ll have more uses than simply looking cute or giving players a lift. They’re also able to auto loot. As for when players can beging farming pets, they’ve moved it forward a bit. Instead of needing to be level 5, you’ll have to be level 3.
Moving onto the topic of gameplay, there will be eight classes available at launch. They’re all part of the standard video game Trinity. There are two tanks: the frontline, heavy damage Gladiator and the tank that focuses on blocking and buffing, Templar. We have four flavors of DPS: Assassin for melee, the Ranger with the bow, the spell casting Sorcerer, and Spirit Master, who brings their own elemental spirit summon along. And finally, the two healers consist of the traditional Cleric and the Chanter which is responsible for buffs and heavy damage.
When the game launches, players will find that the party size for both “Expeditions” (dungeons) and “Sanctuary” (raids) have been increased. Expeditions have gone from a party of four to five and Sanctuary has gone from eight to ten. It’s up to the players to figure out their party configuration.
Expeditions have everything you’d expect… mobs, bosses, and loot. They feature two modes: Exploration, in which players receive instruction from Shugos, and Conquest, where they’ll need to learn everything on their own.
Sanctuary also has what most players expect from raids… bosses. However, at the start the party will be split into two smaller parties of five with each taking different paths and eventually facing different bosses. These aren’t the big boss, though. After that, the whole party will come back together before dealing with the final boss.
For the PvP fans, they announced a 10v10 Battlegrounds mode will be available at launch. In this mode, skill levels for players will be equalized, so no one should have to worry about a balance being a deciding factor in who wins. That said, the mode is apparently intended to offer players a way to test out their class and practice their skills.
Of course, there’s the Abyss as well. This is an open-world zone that if you enter, you’re in PvP. So, be prepared. There are quests in the Abyss as well.
If you want to see the dungeons, raids, and PvP in action, you can catch a bit of it in the stream below.
For those wanting to know about the various global regions, information was provided on this as well. There will be five global regions: NA West, NA East, South America, Central Europe, and Japan. Players will be able to choose the region they want to join.
Another thing that was announced during the stream has to do with Founder’s Packs. Whether someone has already bought a pack or decides to do so in the future, they’ll receive 30 days of membership with it – something that was not part of the pack before.
