Today, NC shared the first global dev video for Aion 2. Note this isn’t the first dev video overall; it’s just the first one directed at the free-to-play MMORPG's global audience specifically. As these continue to come out, they will likely contain information pertinent to the Western audience. For example, today’s video includes USD pricing for the game’s monthly membership: $15 per month, which unlocks features like full access to the game’s economy. There is, of course, a battle pass as well.
Of course, the videos will contain more general information as well, such as the fact that the game’s map is 36 times larger than that of the original Aion, in addition to being an open world with air and underwater exploration as well.
Today’s video highlighted the game’s customization, touting more than 200 options ranging from the standard stuff in character creation, such as eyes, to even being able to adjust visible veins. As for other customization, players will earn outfits, weapons, and accessories via content, all of which can be dyed. And, as this is Aion, there’s a large variety of wings to collect and further customize your look. Additional cosmetic gear can be purchased via the game’s shop. That includes wings, weaponskins, and even pets. There is no combat-related benefit to owning these cosmetics.
Speaking of pets, the pet system allows players to capture monsters and keep them as companions. “Companions” also seems to mean “mounts”.
Also discussed in the video are the game’s classes. Aion 2 keeps the eight classes from the original game, and they continue to adhere to the MMO class trinity. As for the game’s combat, it features “dynamic action” and uses a “hit-confirmed non-targeting” combat system. And yes. PvP still exists. Of course it does. This is Aion. But the game’s PvE and PvP are separate enough that those who’d rather fight monsters than other people can do so.
