In games where characters are busy killing each other, it’s pretty easy not to expect a deceased character to reappear in the game’s lore later on. (At least, if we’re talking games that aren’t part of the fantasy genre. Dead folks refuse to stay dead in those.) So, when the game’s developers decide to provide you with a bit more lore on those characters, it’s always nice.
Today, Blizzard did just that with the drop of the latest Overwatch 2 hero trailer for Vendetta. Obviously, Vendetta isn’t the deceased in question, but she does have ties to someone who died in the free-to-play hero shooter’s story – and by proxy several of the game’s existing heroes. And no, that’s not really a good thing. Without spoiling it for you, let’s just say she obviously took the name “Vendetta” for a reason.
Those familiar with the game’s lore won’t have any trouble recognizing the character she’s related to. And, while I won’t spoil it for you here, I will say that you only need to look as far as the top comment thread to get the details if you’re less familiar or simply have forgotten. Folks seem pretty happy with the lore drop. So that’s good news.
As for Vendetta herself, she’s definitely going to draw the attention of players who enjoy strong, gladiator-type ladies carrying giant swords.
