We just got some fresh details about The CUBE, thanks to a new interview with WCCF TECH.
In case you missed it, The CUBE is an upcoming MMORPG/shooter hybrid from Mundfish, the studio behind Atomic Heart. It’s a spin-off set after the original game. No word yet on whether it’s free-to-play, but fingers crossed.
CEO Robert Bagratuni says the concept started with a simple notepad sketch that evolved into a living, shifting world — literally. The game runs on a patent-pending “split-rendering” system that allows thousands of tiles to rotate and move in real time, changing gravity and traversal as you play. Built in Unreal Engine 5, this tech keeps everything synced and smooth, making the environment a core part of gameplay (not just visual).
Instead of static quest hubs or grindy leveling, you’ll tackle co-op missions, dynamic events, and maybe some PvP. There’s persistent progression, gear upgrades, and dungeon-like zones with escalating danger and rewards, like Diablo or Destiny.
The business model is still TBD, but Mundfish is aiming for a “player-first” approach. Open testing and a packed post-launch roadmap are in the works, with new quests, story content, and world updates planned. And players will shape the world as they go.
