If you haven’t completed Neverness To Everness’ side trip into the Dungeons & Dragons-style anomaly game “999 Nights”, you’re going to want to go ahead and do that before the next update drops. It’s time to lock in and finish dealing with the organization known as the Scarlet Letter.
According to the latest Special program for the free-to-play action RPG, players will need to complete the story from the previous update (despite it chronologically taking place later in the story) in order to begin the upcoming Version 1.3 content.
As for what’s going to happen, players will finally get to deal with the Scarlet Letter – with help from friend at Eibon and ETD-6. This time, we’re heading to a place known as the Fogden, where the Scarlet Letter has set up a game we’ll have to win in order to take them down and save Nanally and the other Dreamers.
The update introduces two new playable characters. The first will be Zankou, Daffodil’s “sister” from the Scarlet Letter organization. I’m not really sure how she ends up on our side. Maybe her allegiance is one of the rewards from defeating The Game. Yes, her playable version does look different from what we’ve seen in the story. But if you really like her original look, that outfit will unlock for free when you obtain her character.
She’s a main DPS character with the Incantation Esper Attribute and her Esper ability, the Eye of Delusion, allows her to play with reality. So, in battle she has two different kits, Reality and Illusion. She also has a special ability in the open world that allows her to turn invisible, so that enemies can’t spot her. Should come in very handy during heists.
As for her social aspects. At the end of 1.3, Zankou won’t exactly be free, so what interacts with the Appraiser will be a phantom she’s able to send to watch them. She also won’t have any hangouts available for the time being.
The second playable character is ETD-6 member Linko. Thta’s the little pink-haired girl we met prior to going to fight dragons. Linko is paired with an anomaly partner named Xiaozhen. She has an Esper Attribute of Anima and uses the Telepathy Esper Ability. This ability allows her to pick up the frequency of almost anything as well as sync her own frequency with someone else. Depending on the level of the sync, she can, at minimum, gauge the other person’s status and, at maximum, share strength and control of each other’s bodies. Full sync only lasts for a short time. Syncing with Xiaozhen allows her to use her anomaly friend to fly around the city.
In combat, she can do synced strikes with either Xiaozhen or another Esper. Sych strike damage counts as follow-up attack damage with the attribute matching whoever launches it. Linko’s ultimate even allows her to sync with all three other teammates at once, calling in individual sync strikes from each of them.
As for board pulls, Zankou will be available in the first half of the board, along with a rerun of Nanally. They’ll be available from August 19, when the update launches, to September 9. From September 9 to September 30, Linko will be available, along with a rerun of Hotori.
Speaking of returning boards. It turns out that if you were rolling on a character’s board before and accumulated rolls toward their perks, those rolls carry over to the next time the character is available to roll on. The trick is, that while all limited-board rolls count toward what’s happening on the boards no matter what, if you want the perks, you need to roll on a specific board. Basically, you can’t roll on Zankou and get Nanally’s skins.
Of course, a new update means other new content. The new version will introduce a new district named Duskmoor. It’s lots of roads and wide-open spaces, very much designed for players who like racing. Even some collection is designed around driving with players not needing to get out of the cars to grab items.
Duskmoor is also home to a beach that players will be visiting for a series of summer events. This means summer outfits for quite a few characters. It also means the introduction of beach volleyball as an in-game activity. This is a 2v2 PvE activity with players controlling one character and their partner being AI. This event will also become a weekly activity that players can use to obtain more Fons.
Another summer activity is the new Shipwreck Salvage event which has players harpooning free-floating loot from the ocean while riding a jet ski. Jet skis can also be used for racing. And yes, jet skis are now a vehicle players can add to their garage. There’s even a dune buggy to be had. Oh, and we’ll also be able to pick up a bicycle, because why not.
For those wanting an actual house instead of an apartment, that’s coming in this update too. The house even has a gardening feature.
Speaking of houses, a new hobby activity is being introduced, “Building Hethereau”. Players will be helping with construction around the city.
Oh. And if you thought we were done with the zone from the last update, a new tower mode has been added to the Warren continent.
On a final note, everyone knows that theme park that’s just been sitting there, taunting us. Well, Pukaland won’t be available in this update, but it will be opening up in the next one. Finally.
No, we didn’t forget your codes. They are: FOGDENGAME, EYEOFDELUSION, and SUMMERTIME. Be sure to sue them by August 10.
