If you’ve been pining for more information about Riot’s in-the-works MMORPG set in the League of Legends universe, well, we haven’t actually got any verified information for you yet. But, we do have a job listing for an engineering manager at the game developer.
This news comes from MassivelyOP (who received a tip). A post was published on LinkedIn three weeks ago, looking for a “Staff Software Engineer, Core Tech” to join work on the League MMO in Los Angeles. The listing notes that the individual who lands the job will be working with the Core Tech team on “long term architecture” and “build[ing] out system that power an MMO for years to come”. It asks for someone with 6+ years of game engineering experience. They also want someone who’s actually shipped a title. Programming languages looked for include C and C++.
Of course, requirements aren’t the only thing of note here. The original post by Orlando Salvatore was reshared by Kyle Senen who mentioned “building foundational systems that will let thousands of players interact seamlessly in a persistent sandbox world”. So, it appears the League MMO will be an open-world sandbox game. Of course, we have no clue how far into development this game is. So that could all change before we hear anything again.
