World of Warcraft’s next Dragonflight update, Seeds of Renewal, will be making its way to the game, and when it does it will include several new features that players of the MMORPG should enjoy. These include things like being able to access Dragonriding everywhere. We know people have probably been waiting for that one.
What they may not have been waiting for is a new feature called “Follower Dungeons”. Well, new to WoW, anyway. Follower Dungeons allow players to enter the eight Normal Dragonflight Dungeons with AI companions rather than other players. This means players can take on dungeons at their own pace without having to worry about upsetting the other members of their party. They can also ‘customize their party makeup’. We’re not sure what that entails, exactly. The best guess is that it means players can choose their role and the rest of the party will align with it, and they can then adjust the party by swapping out a few characters.
Yes. It sounds like Final Fantasy XIV’s Duty Support.
It’ll be interesting to see how it works out in World of Warcraft. The XIV team added it to make things easier for new players while also catering to those of us who’d rather not have to deal with party finder to get things done. Plus, it really does allow people to experience the story at their own pace. I personally do every dungeon with Duty Support the first time. After that, it’s a mixed bag depending on what’s going on, but it sure does make it easy to pop into a dungeon on my own time.
Perhaps that’s Blizzard’s thinking as well. As players get older, they have less time or patience. This is a good way to allow players to do things on their own terms.
Another addition coming in this update is the Azerothian Archives. This will introduce players to new characters and fill them in on some history. It’s not just story time, however, players will participate in activities in Traitor’s Rest as part of a Weekly Public event, and they’ll also earn rewards for doing it.
Players will also be helping King Greymane retake Gilneas when the new content drops. Blizzard didn’t provide a lot of information here, other than that he needs help reclaiming the lands.
And finally, new character customizations will be made available in Seeds of Renewal as well. Draenei, Warlock Tyrant, and Darkglare Demons are all getting some love.
