Players assume the role of a Dread Templar seeking revenge within the dark realm of hell and beyond. The campaign includes up to ten boss fights against diverse demonic enemies across twenty-five distinct levels. Hidden side areas, secret locations, and puzzles are scattered throughout these environments to encourage thorough exploration. Combat relies on FPS staples like dashing and bullet time to manage hordes of fiendish foes. You can select from over one hundred skill upgrades and weapons, ranging from katana swords to firearms and infernal tools. This variety allows you to define your own playstyle while facing a roster of more than twenty enemy types. The game features retro pixel-art graphics that are surprisingly detailed, covering all elements from enemies to environments. Five different filters can be applied to change the visual look of the world. The original soundtrack complements the action with a head-banging style appropriate for the setting. Main story completion takes approximately seven hours, while including extras extends playtime to eleven hours. A full completionist run requires about nineteen hours to finish all content and rewards.
