About
Evil is afoot in Menhir Forest, where the druids face trouble as their archdruid disappears under suspicious circumstances and purple cysts spread corruption. It takes a special kind of hero to save the day, or perhaps more than one. Druidstone: The Secret of the Menhir Forest is a tactical, single-player, turn-based roleplaying game developed by Ctrl Alt Ninja Ltd. This title combines the qualities of modern RPGs with the elegance of tactical boardgames. The game is set in a fantasy world filled with ancient lush forests, standing stones, snow-topped mountains, deadly creatures, and puzzle-ridden ruins. Players control a party of heroes through handcrafted missions that feature varying and often surprising objectives. The main cast includes Aava, the archdruid's daughter; Leonhard, a warden with a mysterious past; and Oiko, a failed Red Priest who is smart but not particularly wise. Along the way, players meet companions and villains whose unique personalities and abilities affect every encounter. Combat takes place in a tactical turn-based and tile-based battle system where every action and every turn counts. Players can upgrade their heroes' abilities, as these choices have a dramatic impact on the characters' capabilities. Upgrade gems are obtained by completing missions and discovering hidden treasures. Non-combat puzzle levels offer an opportunity to solve devious challenges to gain extra upgrade resources. Lost shipments provide access to the best gear in Steelface's Emporium of Curios. The story centers on love, death, and responsibility around the main characters of Aava, Leonhard, and Oiko. The setting combines elements from western RPGs, JRPGs, and tactical boardgames in unexpected ways. Users can play custom missions created by others or make their own campaigns using the Druidstone Level Editor available as a post-release update. The total playtime ranges from 15 to 20 hours depending on how deeply players explore the content. The main story length is approximately 15 hours, while the main story plus extras extends to about 21 hours. Completing all aspects of the game requires roughly 27 hours.
