The world of Going Medieval takes place after a devastating plague has wiped out 95% of the global population at the end of the 14th century. Players take on the role of a leader, tasked with building a settlement for their people, shaping their lives, and protecting them from threats such as animals, bandits, and other dangers.
Players can design, build, and expand their settlements, starting from a small wooden hut and progressing to a massive stone castle. The game features 3D terrain tools that allow players to create unique strongholds with winding underground caverns or sprawling multi-story forts. The main story in Going Medieval takes approximately 24 hours to complete. Adding extra content increases the playtime to 31 hours, while a completionist playthrough can take up to 46 hours.
