About
Othercide is a tactical indie strategy game developed by Lightbulb Crew and published by Focus Entertainment, released on July 26, 2020. The title supports single-player gameplay and includes controller support for those who prefer using a gamepad. In this experience, players descend into Humanity's last hope where the Daughters serve as echoes of the greatest warrior to ever live. These characters stand alone before Suffering and death, forming the only line of defense available in the narrative. Players lead their army of Daughters into battle using all the skill they can muster to decide each unit's fate. Your prowess in combat shapes the abilities and personality of your forces as you progress through the story. The game features a dynamic timeline system that offers endless combat possibilities for managing actions and counters. You must plan ahead to set up impressive chains of abilities designed to outsmart the enemy during encounters. Combat involves an intricate dance of spectacular actions where you fight in epic boss battles against the sources of Suffering. These dread creatures are pulled from the worst of Humanity's crimes against itself, presenting significant challenges for your squad. You will face situations where you must make the toughest decision to sacrifice one Daughter to heal another. Survivors who receive this healing get stronger and become ready to fight the next battle in the campaign. The main story length is approximately 21 hours, while the main story plus extras can take around 35 hours to complete. For players aiming for a completionist run, the total time required reaches about 37 hours. Failure is not the end of the experience since you can return with lost powers to face a new nightmare. This loop allows you to evolve and sacrifice your army of Daughters repeatedly as you navigate the deep and complex narrative.

Owns it's bleak theming completely, even if it can get a little repetitive.
